This extensive collection of more than 200 images and artefacts charts the history of one of the most well-known football teams in England, from its founding in 1882 to the pivotal years of the late 1960s. The Turf Moor club was a founding member of the Football League in 1888, and while the early years of the professional game looked to be an endless battle, the team eventually achieved recognition. We go into great length about the two exceptional teams that emerged from either side of World War I, winning the FA Cup in 1914 and the League Championship in 1920–21 (winning 30 games in a row without losing). Some noteworthy events are the club's 1930 relegation, 1947 promotion back to the top division, the inaugural trip to Wembley, and the heyday of the 1960s, which included the iconic European Cup campaign, another League Championship, and an extremely close call on winning the "double." Ray Simpson, the official historian and statistician of Burnley FC, has provided insightful descriptions for this excellent collection of old photos from the club's history. Simpson has authored multiple books on the subject. All Clarets supporters will be delighted by this visual history, which is a wonderful record of a large club from a small Lancashire town. It can serve as an interesting look back into the past or a nostalgic remembrance of good days gone by.
