It's fair to say the 2024-25 campaign was proper up and down for Watford. Hopes were high as the Hornets kicked off at the Vic, but by the business end, we’d landed smack in mid-table—not quite sniffing ’at promotion, but never properly dragged into a relegation scrap either. Away days were especially grim, with points hard to come by, and injuries to some of our big hitters really put a damper on things. Still, a few youngsters came in handy, and the gaffer stuck to his guns, refusing to rip it all up and start again.
As we look ahead to 2025-26, it's evident that the club is committed to achieving success. There’s been a right old shuffle behind the scenes: scouts out hunting for a bit of steel at the back and a spark in midfield, while a few of the underwhelming old guard are being shown the door. The big idea is to get academy lads in with a handful of savvy signings, all ready to give it a proper go. Pre-season’s been earmarked for getting the lads up to speed with a more front-foot style—we want goals, excitement, and a real crack at those playoff spots.
