Hardcover Published 1958, 112 pages The Book He Never Saw Published
Duncan Edwards’s Posthumous Gift
A first edition, first printing of ‘Tackle Soccer This Way’ by Duncan Edwards, published by Stanley Paul in 1958, stands as a rare collector’s piece. This is more than just a vintage book; it’s an instructional manual on football penned by one of Manchester United and England’s brightest talents, Duncan Edwards. The book captures Duncan Edwards’s philosophy and approach to the game, having been written shortly before his untimely death in the Munich air disaster of 1958 and published posthumously. In addition to serving as a practical guide for young players, the book serves as a poignant reminder of a footballer whose career and life tragically ended.
Condition of Book
The black cloth boards are exceptionally clean, with the binding still tight and the pages and photographs remarkably bright—almost as if the book had just come off the press. The dust jacket is complete, showing only minor shelf wear and a few barely noticeable chips. There are small chips at the top and bottom of the spine, but nothing significant. The price has been clipped. We’ve carefully cleaned the dust jacket and fitted it with our Archival Just Jacket System, as shown in the accompanying photos of the process. The system guarantees the book's protection for future generations. Now in 2025, this book, over 67 years old, stands out as a true collector's edition.
