Chapter coming soon
Born June 27, 1900, in Churchtown, Cork, Matthew “Matty” Stack was a champion boxer who later worked in the famous boxing booths in England. He married Mollie Hogan (1898–1980) in Kilmallock in 1923. The couple lived in Jersey before moving to Rainham in Essex, where Matty worked at the Dagenham Ford Factory. Later, the family settled for prosperity in Leamington Spa, Warwickshire. They had eight children: Michael (1928–1985), Mary (1928–2019), Margaret (born 1932), Noel (1933–2013), Anne (born 1934), Betty (1934–1988), Kathleen (born 1935), and William (1936–2013).
A few notes about the family:
Matty Stack was well-known for his boxing achievements and his time in the English boxing booths.
Michael Stack was a professional boxer.
William Stack represented Great Britain in boxing at the 1964 Olympic Games in Tokyo.
Mary Stack married Randolph Turpin, the British boxing champion, in 1947. We cannot confirm whether Matty Stack trained Turpin, but the family connection is evident.
